Resolution of Ties

  • 3.01 A tie exists within one section, or across two or four sections, when two or more teams have the same win-loss record.
  • 3.02 A tie shall be resolved by following, in order, the procedure set out below:-
    • (a) Within Section Round Robins
      • With 2 teams tied on win/losses, rank them by the results of their game in the round robin; the winner is placed ahead of the loser.
      • With more than 2 teams tied on win/losses, rank them in order:-
        • by the results of their games among themselves in the round robin games.
        • If still tied on wins/losses,by their runs against record in the games among themselves; the team with the lowest runs against is placed ahead of the others, the team with the second lowest runs against is placed ahead of the others, etc.
      • If any teams tied by their runs against record in the games amongst themselves :-
        • 2 teams - by the results of their games amongst themselves in the round robin games
        • more than 2 teams - by their runs against record in all the round robin games; the team with the lowest runs against is placed ahead of the others, the team with the second lowest runs against is placed ahead of the others, etc.
      • If any teams still tied on runs against, by random selection (ie coin toss); the 1st team selected is placed ahead of the others.
    • (b) Across Section Round Robins
      • With 2 or more teams tied on wins/losses, rank them in order :-
      • By their runs against record in all round robin games; the team wit hthe lowest runs against is placed ahead of the others, the team with the 2nd lowest runs against is placed ahead of the others, etc.
      • If any teams still tied on runs against, by random selection (ie coin toss); the 1st team selected is placed ahead of the others.

Game Endings

  1. If the home team is ahead after the top half of the last inning has been concluded, the game ends at that point. The home team does not "bat out". Any runs scored by away side will be removed from reported score.
  2. If the game is tied or the visitors are ahead after the top half of the last inning, the home team bats, but if they manage to go ahead, the game ends as soon as the winning run is scored. Play is allowed to finish and if 2 or 3 or 4 runs score they are all counted.
  3. If the game is tied or the visitors are ahead after the top half of the last inning, the home team bats. If time runs out before the home team completes its at-bat and the home team is still behind or the game is still tied, the score reverts to the last complete inning in which one team was ahead. Note: In these situations, umpires should attempt to complete the final inning if at all possible.

NB In RR play if revert means draw we will allow...
